Max resolution for U2711 Analogue 2048x1152

I've just bought a U2711 and can't get it to run at any more than 2048x1152 from windows 7.  Are the higher resolutions only available through the DVI connections.

It will only run at 1920 x 1080 from a MACbook pro or IMAC even through the DVI connection

I've updated the drivers on windows7.

Any ideas, or have I just spent a lot of money on the wrong monitor for what I need.

I cannot speak to the apple issue. We do not test our monitors on apple products.

For the Windows 7 computer -
Maximum Resolution VGA = 2048x1152
Maximum Resolution DVI and DP (DisplayPort) = 2560x1440

The Windows 7 video card must have DVI-D Dual Link ports. The cable must also be DVI-D Dual Link. Go here and look at the 4th picture to see a DVI-D Dual Link port. If one or both are not DVI-D Dual Link, you can only do 1920x1200.

Thanks for the help, Chris.  I'll need to buy myself a new laptop then, I thought I would when I bought the screen but the documentation on my current laptop said it could handle the resolution. It's a good excuse anyway :-) Can you confirm that the Dell XPS 17 with the 3 GB GT 555M graphics card will run this screen at 2560x1440. alongside its own screen at 1920x 1080 and would the 1 GB version of the 555M also work?

Also will it work with the new displayport?

Thanks in advance

Steve

I am not sure. Please ask the Laptop Liaison, Dell-Terry B.

I've been told that it has a mini displayport.  Will this allow me to run the monitor at it's full resolution?

Hi Steve,

I've a similar problem. Though I have just an inspiron with a HD 7730 2GB that has VGA and HDMI output. The HDMI is not enough for the 1440. The VGA is enough for 1152. But somehow for a while it offer to set it 1440. I tried to use it but then the u2711 says NO. So the u2711 VGA connection doesn't allowe more. The next try is to borrow a VGA-Displayport converter wich maybe would be good. (maybe not) The displayport worked on 1440 with my desktop.

I see your question is old. Have you found some solution? Could you share wiht me?

Thanks,

Gabor
