Monitor noise checking
All electronic devices generate electrostatic noise. This electrostatic noise is also known as coil whine. Dell declares monitor noise levels may go up to 31 dB (decibels). Within a minimum of 60cm/24in in from the monitor, the noise level may reach 26 dB. Some monitors are equipped with fans which can create additional noise. All these noises should be within the max limit of 31 dB. The closest you should ever be to the face of the monitor is 50cm/20in as shown in the monitor User's Guide =
Dell Support will need a video of the monitor noise. Per Dell testing protocols, the recording device must be a minimum of 50cm/20in from the face of the monitor. Then provide a link to the video to the GHN (Get Help Now) agents via a private message. Based on the audible results in the video, they will tell you if the monitor meets our manufacturer specifications for noise.
