P2414H, uneven backlight
Hi there,
I have owned the P2414H for almost a year and have been very happy with it until now. However, over the past few weeks I have noticed that the backlight at the bottom of the monitor is uneven and is becoming more noticeably so, especially on lighter backgrounds. Please see the image in the link below for a picture of the issue.

The settings I use are multimedia preset, 19 brightness and 75 contrast. The issue is lessened by increasing the brightness, but never disappears entirely. However, higher brightness is detrimental to image quality and painful to look at. I have tried running the LCD conditioning for 15 minutes and have done a factory reset with no improvement. The issue is extremely distracting when working, less so, but still noticeable with other uses. Would this constitute an issue worthy of a return?

* Go back to the top of this Monitor Forum
* Open, "My 24" or smaller monitor does not have a Service Tag"

You need to reset the P2414H to our standards and run the BID (Built-in Diagnostics) again -
* Press the Menu button to open the OSD (On Screen Display)
* Go to Other Settings
* Choose Factory Reset- Reset All Settings
* Go to Brightness/Contrast
- They should be at 75/75
* Go to Color Settings
- Input Color Format should be RGB
- Preset Modes should be Standard
- Image Enhance should be Off
* Exit the OSD
Be ready to take some pictures of the BID colored screens.
* Turn the monitor off
* Disconnect all cables from the monitor except the power cord
* Turn the monitor on
* Looking at the monitor buttons top to bottom, press and hold buttons 1 and 4 down for two seconds
* An all Gray screen appears
* Press button 4. The screen changes to Red
* Press button 4. The screen changes to Green
* Press button 4. The screen changes to Blue
* Press button 4. The screen changes to Black
* Press button 4. The screen changes to White
* The test is complete when the white screen appears. To exit, press the Button 4 again

Thank you for the reply Chris. I have run the BID procedure with the settings shown in your message. The issue is reduced, but not eradicated with the monitor being too bright for the conditions in my room under these settings. The links below display each of the colours within the BID procedure.
