S2209W Monitor & Driver Questions
Hi, all...
I will be getting an S2209W HD Widescreen monitor. My graphics card is an AIT HD4670 w 1Gb onboard video memory. In my Device Manager, I show the following under Display Adaptor: ATI Radeon HD4600 Series, date of 11/24/2009, and version of 8.681.00. I show the following under Monitors: Plug & Play Monitor, date of 6/6/2001, version of 5.1.2001.0.
I have located the driver for the S2209W monitor on the Dell site, and have bookmarked it for (possible) use.
My questions are these:
1) Since I have the ATI Radeon HD4600 Series adaptor installed (I installed this display-only driver from the AMD site)... do I need to install the driver for the S2209W, or will my ATI display adaptor handle everything fine?
2) I trialed the download of the S2209W driver from the Dell site, and it wants to install .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Is this OK to do??
Advice appreciated! Have a wonderful day!!

Yes to both. You want the correct driver and ICM loaded for the monitor.

Hi, Chris...
Driver downloaded and staged for installation.
Can I go ahead and install the driver for the new monitor, even though I do not have the new monitor delivered yet? Would that action mess anything up, or is that OK to do? Please advise, and thanks!

I would wait until you get it to load the driver.

Hi, Chris...
When the monitor arrives, should the new driver be installed into C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R194543 after the PC has been powered down, the new monitor hooked up, and the PC powered up again?
Also, I was reading somewhere that there is a directory C:|WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\COLOR, that has monitor color profiles in it. Does anything have to be done with this directory for the new monitor?
Maybe I'm over-thinking this whole thing :emotion-42: but any advice appreciated!
Best regards.

Correct. The color profile will also be in that same directory.
