S2417DG, severe color banding

I've just purchased a new S2417DG monitor and have severe banding in dark colors in games, clips and movies and pictures. I've done every color calibration I've found on the internet, resets to factory, reinstalling the drivers and whatnot, to no avail.

You can see in the attached pictures the same clip on (both connected to ASUS GTX-1070 Turbo, via Display Port):
Dell U2415 (1920x1200 60Hz):

Dell S2417DG (2560x1440 144Hz):

My computer specs:

i7-8700K, ROG STRYX Z390-E, ASUS GTX-1070 Turbo, Corsair DDR4-3200 16GB, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD.

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Please assist.

* Was this purchased directly from Dell?
* Click my name and private message me the S2417DG service tag number and 20 digit serial number

* Read through this

* As a comparison, show pictures of the S2417DG at all 2560x1440 Hz that it can do

Image

* Post pictures of the stand alone/disconnected from PC Built-in Diagnostics, page 40

Thanks for the reply.

I've sent you all you've asked via PM.

The stand alone diagnostic images look great. They all pass our uniformity specifications. This leads me to believe the issues within games stem from the Nvidia GTX 1070 driver. You will need to test different Nvidia drivers starting with the latest version, then stepping back to earlier versions. Remember, when installing a different Nvidia driver, always choose Custom, then Clean Install.

I've tried all the 2018 drivers on the Nvidia list for 1070 and even found a 2017 driver (388...).

No change whatsoever.

And one more thing - the diagnostics you've asked are for color uniformity, when the issue that I have are with gradient rendering.

The images of the pictures I've sent you do not lie.

On this gradient test you can clearly see the banding:

Again, my u2415 is connected to the same GPU and has no such issues, nor it ever did.
So, what's the solution?

I refuse to believe that it's a "feature" on a premium monitor like this.

This monitor passes our uniformity specifications. Dell will not exchange it. You should return it to the seller for refund and purchase a different model.
