S2716DG, firmware question
I have an S2716DG monitor. I'm experiencing intense pinkish nuances in all color preset modes. I have tried factory reset, hard reset, and run the built-in diagnosis, but nothing worked. In softMCCS program, I see a lot of strange things, like my monitor SN to be: #ASN3yQGY1eHd.
My monitor SN: CN-0Y44M5-QDC00-7BE-057U-A07

* Reset again to Factory defaults in the OSD (On Screen Display). Then post pictures of the S2716DG stand alone BID colored screens
* Are you asking what firmware is currently installed?
Not sure why softMCCS is not reporting the correct data for you. softMCCS 2.5.0.1070 is reporting my D3218HN S/N number correctly. Perhaps uninstall softMCCS, reboot when done, then install the latest version and retest.
My data =
- softMCCS X9R5K7990URE
- D3218HN label CN-0X9R5K-BO300-799-0URE
Dell monitor part number = X9R5K D3218HN
Build date = 799 (9/9/17)
OEM manufacturer code = 0URE
Your data =
- softMCCS ASN3YQGY1EHD
- S2716DG label CN-0Y44M5-QDC00-7BE-057U
Dell monitor part number = Y44M5 S2716DG
Build date = 7BE (11/14/17)
OEM manufacturer code = 057U

i tried what you said but didnt changed anything, here is a log from softMCCS where you can find again that weird SN.

nevermind, i can still return the monitor from where i bought it. But i`ll probably link this thread as motivation. I thought i could fix it by rewriting the firmware. Thx anyway.

I removed the link since it shows private data. The label is legit. Our tool still shows Best Buy as the owner. You need to fill out this form to get it into your name. No, we never offered the S2716DG firmware as a download.
Reset again to Factory defaults in the OSD (On Screen Display). Then post the links to pictures of the S2716DG stand alone BID colored screens.
* To what system model is the S2716DG connected?
* To what video card?
* To what video card port?
* If Nvidia and connecting using its DP out port and DP in on the S2716DG, have you tested with G-SYNC enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel? Testing all Hz, 2560x1440 60Hz/85Hz/100Hz/120Hz/144Hz
* Then with G-SYNC disabled testing at 60Hz?

After investigating a bit those last days, i found that the reason for the wrong serial number has to do with the corruption of the EDID file, the one storred in the monitor's EEPROM.
To be sure, can you post me an similar(the same model, without private data) EDID file ( obtained with real time mode of the Monitor Asset Manager software)?

well, i returned my old one and i got another, but same problem, edid data of this monitor is similar to an acer predator, not to an dell one. i can post you edid files or label if you want. now all i need is to know how to enter service menu.
the SN to the new one is: CN-0Y44MS-QDC00-7BE-07CU-A07
i tried see the code from ubuntu and is the same as the one my program shows it.

"but same problem, edid data of this monitor is similar to an acer predator, not to an dell one"
And how does this present itself as a problem with the replacement? Are you saying that the replacement has the same pinkish issue?

No, this one doesn't have pinkish problems, but after what i've seen the edid data on the first one and now on the second monitor, my paranoia pushes me to think there is a third factor implied. Both monitors were brand new but bought from the same vendor. I wanna install a proper edid data and i know how. I just wanna see if i got scammed or something. If you don't wanna make public the service menu way of access you could at least message it privately. And there are different timings between those 2 monitors, maybe the image is a bit choppy but i cant tell you if that's the case.

Ok,with service mode i couldn't rewrite the edid form some reason, then i tried to override the windows driver(from device manager) with my edid .inf file (removed signature protection). The shocking thing is that the monitor didnt work at all after that(it worked before restarting, after it showed that monitor lacked signal) (uninstalled the edid override and now works fine i guess). The edid is the one posted before.
any ideea what went wrong?
here is the inf file:

I have one of these monitors as well. I love it except when i get that weird invisble line down the middle. I read that NVDIA says that a firmware update from the monitor manufacturer will fix it. I don't see an option to download a firmware update from Dell. Am I missing something? Turnig off and turning the monitor back on seems to fix it and it seems to happen when my monitor goes to sleep and wakes back up. Is there a fix from Dell for this?
Thanks,
Jake
