SE2722HX, connecting to Lenovo Yoga C940-14IIL laptop
I just purchased a Dell SE2722HX monitor to use with my Lenovo Yoga C940-14IIL laptop. However, the monitor only came with HDMI and VGA cables, and I do not have an HDMI port on my laptop, only USB ports. What cable do I need to connect the monitor, or can it be connected at all?

Per the online Lenovo Yoga C940-14IIL overview, it has two Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports (#2/#3). One used for power and one used for video out to an external monitor.
The online SE2722HX User's Guide shows us that is has the following video in ports = HDMI/VGA
So you need to purchase a TB3/USB-C to HDMI cable.
