SP2208WFP Randomly Enters Power Save Mode

My Dell SP2208WFP has worked like a champ for years until recently. Just a few months ago I noticed that from time to time, usually once a day but not always every day, the monitor goes black, flashes a message that it is entering power save mode and then goes dark and the usually blue indicator lights turn amber. The only way that I have found to get my monitor back on is to force the Dell XPS420 with a Radeon ATI HD 2600XT video card to shut down and then restart the computer.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is it that my Extended Service expires in about 90 days so the monitor is gettig ready to fail? Should I swap out for a different monitor?

Any guidance will be appreciated

So the issue is not between the monitor and the video card. Why then does the monitor just place itself into power save mode at random times? Is the monitor failing?

Or, is the video card failing?

The monitor is passive. It does not seek a handshake with the video card. The video card handles all of the handshake.

No. I think the video card is not sending signal.
