Shadows

I have a DellE228WFP monitor. All of a sudden  there are horizontal gray shadows/smears to the right of text/icons/images. I have updated drivers; unplugged; restarted. auto adjusted, reset factory specs. But it still persists. Computer is Dell Inspiron 530; WindowsXP; 64 bit. Any ideas? Thank you.

That may well be telling you that your graphic's card is on the way out. Do you have a spare card to try it out.
