U2414H, Daisy Chain and Surface Pro 3 Dock

Hi,

I'm unable to enable 1.2 mode in Monitor 1, it goes into power saving mode when I do it so I end up both monitors duplicating the same output.

Monitor model : U2414hb
Monitor revision number : A03
Monitor 1 20 digit alphanumeric serial number : CN-03415X-74261-516-8AVL

Monitor 2 20 digit alphanumeric serial number : CN-03415X-74261-516-889L

Current Setup:

* The SP3 (Surface Pro 3) dock

* SP3 Dock mDP out --> Dell mDP to DP cable --> #1 U2414H DP in (far left)
* #1 U2414H DP Out MST 1.2 --> Dell DP to mDP cable --> #2 U2414H mDP in

You lost me. First you said you cannot turn DP 1.2 on in the first U2414H. Then you stated that this was your setup which has monitor 1 DP 1.2 ON?

* SP3 Dock mDP out --> Dell mDP to DP cable --> #1 U2414H DP in (far left)
* #1 U2414H DP Out MST DP 1.2 --> Dell DP to mDP cable --> #2 U2414H mDP in

Where do I say DP 1.2 is on in my original post ?

"* SP3 Dock mDP out --> Dell mDP to DP cable --> #1 U2414H DP in (far left)

* #1 U2414H DP Out MST DP 1.2 --> Dell DP to mDP cable --> #2 U2414H mDP in"

I don't I think said that anywhere above, If I enable 1.2 on Monitor 1, Monitor 2 goes to power save mode.

MST and DP 1.2 Enabled are the same thing. In your first post you wrote =
#1 U2414H DP Out MST 1.2

So MST enabled is the SAME as turning DP 1.2 on. Verify that this is your setup =
1st monitor = DP 1.2 Enabled
2nd monitor = DP 1.2 Disabled

If still no go, swap the monitors and re-test.

Ok what I meant was MST was being used for out.

Anyway, tried what you said already and reversed monitors too but soon as I enable 1.2 on Monitor 1 then Monitor 1 goes to power saving mode but only Monitor 2 is showing content.

So both monitors setup as the first in the daisy chain using MST DP 1.2, go blank. I doubt that both monitors are defective.
* The SP3 Dock must be using its 48w power cable
* Run all Surface Pro updates
* Troubleshoot docking stations for Surface Pro and Surface 3

-I'm using the power supply provided with the dock, presumably it's 48w as I was only provided one.

-I have previously already run all updates.

-checked the website and provided and nothing useful on there.

Ok, I have unplugged the mDP from Dock and plugged into Surface Pro 3 and both monitors worked so I then configured both displays as I wanted then unplugged mDP from Surface Pro 3 and plugged again into Dock and it now seems to be working as I wanted. So Weird.

Temp Solution!

Setup! Dell U2415 With Surface pro 3 in Dock with Windows 10.

Use Good kabels. Cable that came with the display is not ok,

Use....

Accell UltraAV Mini Displayport to Displayport 1.2 Audio/Video Cable.

Monitor 1 on Daisy Chain enabled

Monitor 2 Daisy Chain Disabled

Surface Dock mdp-dp  to Monitor 1.

Monitor 1 to Monitor 2 dp-mdp

1. Monitor 1 power off and monitor 2 0n

2. Remove  Surface from Dock

3. Place Surface in dock

4. Monitor 1 power on

Works for us.
