U2415, mDP to HDMI / HDMI to HDMI
Hi, I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop and I am trying to connect it to my Dell U2415 monitor. I have tried connecting them with both an mDP to HDMI cable and an HDMI to HDMI, but neither of them worked. I can make it work using a DP to mDP cable on another Lenovo laptop, but I need to connect the monitor to the HDMI-only laptop as well. I have selected the right port on the monitor (mDP and HDMI, as applicable), but that hasn't fixed the problem. Any suggestions on how to solve this would be much appreciated!

A PC HDMI out port cannot upconvert to a monitor DP/mDP port via a straight cable. See this. Because the Lenovo X1 Carbon laptop only has the HDMI out port, you will need to connect in this way =
Lenovo X1 Carbon HDMI out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2415 HDMI in port
