U2713H, Lenovo y510p, Resolutions?

I'm thinking of buying the Dell UltraSharp U2713H 27” monitor. I want to connect it to a laptop( Lenovo y510p)  that has only HDMI and VGA ports. Is there any way to get the 2560x1440 resolution out of the laptop and shoud I even buy this type of monitor and use it with a laptop?

Hello Luka,

with HDMI and VGA as far as I know it's not possible to get 2560x1440.

About second question, it depends what you want to do with that monitor, if you do a lot of work in front of the computer, it will be a perfect choice. When I bought my one 6 7 months ago, I used it 3 4 months only with my laptop, but connected through DisplayPort.

If it will not be possible to use it with it's native resolution it will not be a goo choice.

With DisplayPort you should be able to use the full potential of the display.

Did you get the 2560x1440  trough DisplayPort? I have a second laptop that has DisplayPort... My concern is that I wont be able to get the full potential of the monitor(colors and other great specs..)

And thank you for your answer! :D
