U2719DC, Linux, Daisy Chain?
Hi,
I'm planning to purchase an XPS 13 Developer Edition running Ubuntu and wondered if it was possible to daisy chain two U2719DC monitors from it in Linux? Also, is there any reason to have the U2719DC as the second monitor, or would the U2719D work just as well?
Thanks

Neither the U2719DC and U2719D were provided by Dell with Linux drivers or support. You can see here on the U2719DC drivers page and here on the U2719D drivers page the Windows operating systems supported.
Using a supported Windows operating system, the way to setup a U2719DC MST (Multi-Stream Transport) (Daisy Chain) is as follows =
PC USB Type-C out port --> U2719DC USB Type-C cable (C to C) --> U2719DC USB Type-C in port (Menu- Display- MST On)
U2719DC DP out port --> U2719DC DP to DP cable --> 2nd monitor DP in port
PC USB Type-C out port --> U2719DC USB Type-C cable (C to C) --> U2719DC USB Type-C in port (Menu- Display- MST On)
U2719DC DP out port --> retail DP to mDP cable --> 2nd monitor mDP in port
PC DP out port --> U2719DC DP to DP cable --> --> U2719DC DP in port (Menu- Display- MST On)
U2719DC DP out port --> retail DP to DP cable --> 2nd monitor DP in port
PC DP out port --> U2719DC DP to DP cable --> --> U2719DC DP in port (Menu- Display- MST On)
U2719DC DP out port --> retail DP to mDP cable --> 2nd monitor mDP in port

Agreed, that would be a Dell Sales page miss. I will let them know. As to will the U2719DC work with Linux Ubuntu? As I showed earlier, there are no Linux Ubuntu drivers. You could ask the Linux users here if anyone has tried it.

Hi,
So does this mean it won't work with Ubuntu? When I spec an XPS 13 with Ubuntu in the Dell store, it offers me the U2719DC as an optional accessory. That's not great if it isn't supported!
