U3415W, BSOD when switching input source
Hi
I've just bought a U3415W monitor to use with two PC's - one running Windows 10 (via HDMI) and the other Windows 7 (via DP).
It seems to be working beautifully on both PC's however when when I try to change the input source from DP to HDMI the Windows 7 PC which uses the DP port crashes with the BSOD. With my previous monitor (iiyama 2603) I used to switch many times without any issues. I have tried with and without the Dell Display Manager and drives installed but it makes no difference. Really need to get this sorted, any ideas?

Seems so.
The card is the Palit GeForce GTX 980 Super Jet stream 4096 MB. It is not overclocked and only the Nvidia driver is installed. I have not been able to find anything bout the DP port specs. Originally I was using the one next to the DVI port now I am using the center OP port of the three.
Video card ports =
HDMI/mDP/mDP/mDP/DVI

I could not replicate this issue on my U3415W, CN-068MCF-74261-55N-07AL A01 (Built May 23, 2015).
Optiplex 9020 onboard DP out --> DP to mDP cable --> U3415W mDP in
Alienware X51-R1 Nvidia GT 545 mHDMI out --> mHDMI to HDMI cable --> U3415W HDMI in
I could switch back and forth without issue. Both running Windows 7 Home 64 bit.
Could you provide detail like I did above on how they are connected, using what cabling, video cards, U3415W serial number, etc. ?

PC 1 - Intel i7 2600K - nVidia GTX770 (MSI) Driver v353.62 - HDMI out - HDMI to HDMI cable - U3415w HDMI in - Windows 10 Pro x64
PC 2 - Intel i7 4790 - nVidia GTX980 (Palit) Driver V353.06 - mDP out - mDP tp DP cable - U3415w DP in - Windows 7 Home Premium x64
U3415W - CN-OF1T1W-74261547-083L TAG 922K152 Built April 2015. Purchased 23 Sept 2015.
The cables used were the Dell cables supplied with the monitor.
The PC which kept crashing was PC 2 (Win 7) but since my earlier post I have updated the video driver to v355.98 and also used an HDMI to HDMI cable on that PC as well.
Using that method everything worked OK on both PC's but the details on the monitor showed the Win 10 PC was connecting at 60 Hz whereas the Win 7 PC was only at 30 Hz.
I then swapped back to using the mDP to DP cable on PC2 but using a different DP port on the graphics card and all is OK.
Not sure the problem has been identified but it seems to be fixed.

So the key was using a different display port on the video card? I wonder if the ports on the video card have different specifications? Like one is DP1.2 while other is DP1.1a? Do you have a link to that video card site?

Would you mind testing the 1st mDP on the video card?
HDMI/1st mDP/2nd mDP/3rd mDP/DVI
According to Nvidia, all of the mDP should be DP 1.2 backward compatible to DP 1.1. So we are now wondering if Palit made a direct change to the ports or possibly that the I/O is broken on the card.

I have tested the 1st DP which appeared to be faulty at first but it is working OK. The cable plug did not go in to the port as easy as it did in the second DP so I wonder if it was not in fully in the first time. Sorry for raising this issue as it appears to be the 'user error' fault. Thanks for your help.
