old computer new monitor

Is there anything special I need to do or anything extra I need to buy to hook up a new monitor to an old 2002 DELL computer? I was reading online about new monitors being HD and I'm wondering if that would be a problem. I haven't bought the monitor yet but I'm looking at this HP:

I have a very basic understanding about how all of this works so any installation instructions would be appreciated. Thanks.
