refresh rate

Dear Dellers

I have a Dell ultra -Sharp U2713HM at TAU.

Why can't I display stimuli in a frequency higher than 60Hz?

Is the refresh rate constant upon the whole screen? e.g is the refresh rate in the right upper corner is the exact same refresh rate as in the right bottom one.

Thank you very much

Omer

Hi sharomer,

Dell U2713HM monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz. So the stimuli will not show frequency higher than this. The refresh rate will be constant upon the whole screen.

If you have further questions do reply to the same post.

I understand,  thank you so much.

If it's not a problem I have several more questions:

1) Why am I limited to 60Hz?

2) What is the origin or of this constraint?

3) Are there products allowing to display in higher frequencies e.g 256Hz ?

4) What is the expected precision of the offset and onset of stimulus presented on the screen (e.g a white rectangle)?

Thanks a lot

sharomer,

1) Why am I limited to 60Hz?

* Depending on the Dell preset resolution, it will do either 60, 70, or 75. You can choose a non-Dell preset resolution but we have no idea what the Hz will be.

2) What is the origin or of this constraint?

* I wouldn't call it a constraint. I will call it a design choice.

3) Are there products allowing to display in higher frequencies e.g 256Hz ?

* Not from Dell.

4) What is the expected precision of the offset and onset of stimulus presented on the screen (e.g a white rectangle)?

* No idea.

Thanks a lot. Why did you choose to design it in 60hz? Is Dell's 60Hz uniform across the monitor or is there a phase shift? (i.e. each pixel can indeed be 60Hz but it might not be simultaneous with its neighbor pixel)... Thanks Omer

The decision to use 60Hz is a standard for all of us OEMs. It is uniform across the monitor.
