All I want to do is a FULL backup, but networker keeps doing incrementals
Admittedly if I do "savegrp -l full XXXXX" from the terminal it works, but from the console (using "start" button") it just keeps doing incremental's.
additionally once a backup has completed on a client it keeps asking to backup to the default pool.
I'll make no excuses I don't understand the product its way to complex for what we need and for me to understand, but we needed a backup mechanism in addition "backup exec".

Hi John,
What is the NetWorker version you are using and the operating system of the backup server ?
You have to check the schedule configured for this group or this client and the level you configured , You can find more information from the admin guide, here are some:
Also i think you have an issue in configuring the correct media pool for your backups, you have to check the Admin guide on how to create media pool , and check the following Powerlink KB articles to understand the pool attributes and how to limit the volume used:

Hi John,
In the configuration tab in NMC, if you check the properties of the group you will find an option called "Force Incremental". If this option is checked and you run 2 backups within the same day the second one will be incremental regardless of the schedule set for that group.
In regards to the pool, you will need to check the configuration of the pools, if you have created a pool for that particular backup ensure that you check the box, in the Advanced tab of the pool properties, for the group you want to send data to that pool.

Thank you for your help. The problem was the schedule.
I have to hold my hands up on this one, I should have set some time to aside to "read the manual". Networker seems a powerful program, but for the likes of me it takes some time to "get your head around it".
