Backing up VNX CIFS shares with Networker
I keep getting the read the Configuring NDMP Backups on VNX answer and I have several times. But in the beginning it starts with connecting the tape library to aux port on the vnx and that's not the way we are using it. Am I missing something? I would really like to put this VNX in to production but untill I can back it up It's just spinning fans and blinking lights.

Well, you don't have attach tape drive of course - you can do NDMP backup over LAN for example.

Then it is simple; make sure you have NDMP user created and ndmpd daemon running. On NetWokrer side define listener which you have on VNX and define share mount name and that's it. I believe NW docs contain all details related to NW part of configuration and VNX also has guide for NDMP backup which you may check before too for VNX side of the story.

There is a page dedicated to backing up virtual data movers. Didn't know if that applied or not.

In the NDMP backup software,
type the pathname revealed in step 1.
For example: /root_vdm_1/ufs1

You can have 30 if you want. I do not use VNX, but I used Celerra and I had 350+ shares in one client resource (with parallelism not bigger than 4). With VNX1, it should be pretty much the same as with Celerra.
