Backup Failed: RPC error
Hi Folks,
I am getting this weird backup faillure on a particular saveset whilst all the other savesets of the same server backed-up fine.
Registry - Cannot save Registry key SOFTWARE: 0x00000070
Registry - Error saving
39078:(pid 18768): RPC error: RPC cannot encode arguments
7162:(pid 18768): save of SYSTEM STATE:\ to zednbs03 failed
: Failed with error(s)
I have no idea on which disk partition the System State:\ is.
I investigated on the server and it turns out C:\ is full and out of space. Would this affect backups on that partition?
Thanks in Advance,
Rod

Hi Rod,
What is the Networker version on this client? Looks like it is a Windows 2003 Server. In this case the first thing I would suggest you is to run ntbackup for SYSTEM STATE and see if it works. System State backup can fail due to the issues with OS as well. Free space in C:\ could be one of the reasons.

I believe there are temporary files created during the backup of the system savesets; however I would expect the O/S to have issues if the disk it is installed on ran out of space. Can you remove any temporary files and try again?

Thanks Guys.
Presently working on freeing some space, hopefully it will solve the backup issue.
I will update you of progress and hopefully success.

Thanks guys.
This resolved the issue. I thought this wouldn't have caused problems seeing as the VSS=*OFF option is in use.
