===============================================

This seems to a clearly an issue with Application where VSS is not able to take a snapshot of open files located in G:\ drive where SAP is installed.

=======================

Please can you throw some light and your knowledge on this to make the backup successfull.

When doing client initiated backup does it happen always at the same place or around same time?  Did you try without VSS save?

Timeout setting is fine .

Adjust the TCP values (tcp keep alive time value must be equal to 3420000)

backup from client end is tried and it is failing and triggered from server side too...it is failing.

It might be many different things (including simple ones like timeout setting and version difference between server and client).  Did you try backup of G drive from client?  I would start with that to see if I can reproduce the error.  If yes, I would do it again, but in debug mode to get more data on what is going and for that run I would also check network and system logs.

Hello @kishore1

I would like to know couple of thing before suggesting anything.

1. Is that backup was successful ever?

2. If yes then from when the backup is started to fail? and of course what changes has happened to the client? is there any patching involved in the windows box recently?

3. In case its a new configuration then do you have any other SAP backup configured in your environment and those are working fine?
4. If you suspect VSS in this case then can you please provide of the output of "vssadmin list writers" and "vssadmin list providers" output here

Thanks

Deb

@Akanksha_yadav ,

     put the following command in the save command field and retry the backups.

save -a '"ignore-all-missing-system-files=yes

Sorry it should be - save -a '"ignore-all-missing-system-files=yes"'

i missed the closing quotes in the earlier reply

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion. We restarted the Networker services,cleared the NSR peer information and restarted VSS services. Also we made VSS off in the backup commands. It worked. Many thanks for the reply.
