Can not inquire on Networker 7.3.1

The customer used :
1. Networker 7.3.1
2. EZ17-M2 Autoloader, SCSI interface (pass bridge SN3300 into SAN switch)
3. Library EXB-18D/DLT7000 (pass SCSI bus)
4 DAT DDS 4mm (internal)
3. SUN Solaris-10 release 6/06.

I can't inquire device(EZ17M2-FC) but it can see another device on internal SCSI.
I has keep log in this below:

# inquire
scsidev@0.0.0:SEAGATE ST318404LSUN18G 4203|Disk, /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2
S/N: 3BT24A7B0000V1240E0B
scsidev@0.1.0:SEAGATE ST318404LSUN18G 4207|Disk, /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
S/N: 3BT0QH6T000021023737
scsidev@1.5.0:HP C5683A C911|Tape, /dev/rmt/0cbn
scsidev@3.2.0:EXABYTE EXB-210 2.06|Autochanger (Jukebox), /dev/scsi/changer/c5t2d0
S/N: 19501027
scsidev@3.3.0:QUANTUM DLT7000 1E46|Tape, /dev/rmt/2cbn
S/N: CX909S5878
scsidev@4.0.0:SEAGATE ST318404LSUN18G 4203|Disk, /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2
S/N: 3BT24A7B0000V1240E0B
scsidev@4.1.0:SEAGATE ST318404LSUN18G 4207|Disk, /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s2
S/N: 3BT0QH6T000021023737

It can't see device /dev/rmt/1cbn path.
But when I list device on /dev/rmt it will appear

# ls /dev/rmt
0 0cbn 0hn 0m 0u 1b 1cn 1l 1mb 1ub 2bn 2h 2lb 2mbn 2ubn
0b 0cn 0l 0mb 0ub 1bn 1h 1lb 1mbn 1ubn 2c 2hb 2lbn 2mn 2un
0bn 0h 0lb 0mbn 0ubn 1c 1hb 1lbn 1mn 1un 2cb 2hbn 2ln 2n
0c 0hb 0lbn 0mn 0un 1cb 1hbn 1ln 1n 2 2cbn 2hn 2m 2u
0cb 0hbn 0ln 0n 1 1cbn 1hn 1m 1u 2b 2cn 2l 2mb 2ub

After that, I has to test with mt command on /dev/rmt/1cbn by

# mt -f /dev/rmt/1cb stat
EXABYTE Mammoth2 tape drive:
sense key(0x6)= Unit Attention residual= 0 retries= 0
file no= 0 block no= 0

It can operate correctly.

What happen on Networker 7.3.1?.
I has to try re-install back to NWK 7.3 but it same result.

Please help me.
Thank
Suwan

AFAIK, Solaris 10 and SJI based commands do not work together - inquire is affected too in certain respect and there is a fair number of articles about it. If you load tape to 1cbn via autochanger and then do mt which confirms that tape is mounted there is nothing to worry about. Simply do jbconfig and things will work (but remember that all tape drives should be unmounted prior to that).

If you know address of 1cbn device you coult also try tur.

If cfgadm doesn't show it, then this problem is not related to NetWorker. But I agree that this is strange as system did recognize it at certain point (1cbn has been created and MT recognize this as M2 tape drive).

I wonder what would happen if instead of SN3300 you would attach library via SCSI only. Is that an option (just for test)?

Sorry, I don't load cartridge via autochanger but I push it by manual and check the device file to it correctly device.

Now, I can't used command jbconfig on this device because the cfgadm not show device and inquire can't display.

Thank you very much for your help.

SN3300 attach to the library via only SCSI.
