Can not login to Networker NMC via a different subnet

I can login to NMC when i access via the same LAN as the networker server. However, when I VPN to the same network as networker server, I can not login to NMC (with authentication failed error). What could be the issue? Firewall is open for ports 9000, 9001 and 2638. I am running networker 7.6 sp1 on solaris 10. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the NMC Console server hosted on the NetWorker server? If not, what is the OS/NMC version on the console server? What is the exact error message you get when login fails? Please post an extract from the  gstd.raw (render the gstd.raw) at the time when you tried to login remotely.

The NMC is on the same server as NetWorker.

I get this error when I try to log in from VPN:

Could not authenticate this user name and password, try again!
Here's a log from gstd.raw:
68626 1291340652 2 0 0 17 8720 0 pbaktt01 gstd 34 Error shutting down SSL connection 0
68626 1291340696 2 0 0 18 8720 0 pbaktt01 gstd 34 Error shutting down SSL connection 0

The same username and password can login when on the same subnet as the NMC and Networker server. I even reset the administrator password by setting GST_RESET_PW just to make sure that it's not related to the password.

The NMC server is running on Solaris 10 x86. Openssl version is 0.9.7d.

Anyway, can you post a link to the issue regarding the NMC server on Solaris amd64 opteron? Thanks.

Update: Never mind... the Solaris10 Encryption kit is already installed. Still the same.

The error messages you posted is similar to a known issue filed for an NMC server on Solaris amd64 opteron.  Is your NMC server on Solaris amd64? What is the OpenSSL version installed on the NMC server?

The fix for the known issue (bug id NW120469)  I mentioned earlier is going to be included in NetWorker 7.6.2. At the moment the release date for 7.6.2 is not available yet. I hope this information helps.

Thank you for the info, but I can't seem to find this bug id NW120469 anywhere. Even the release notes for NW7.6sp1 dated 25 Nov 2010 doesn't have it. Would you mind pointing it out to me as I have to let the client know about this issue? Thanks.

You should open a case and request port patch for your version as 7.6.2 won't be out any soon.
