Cannot register VMware Backup Appliance in NMC
Hi,
I 've newly install a EBR application in our vcenter.
All the configuration seem to be OK (vcenter registration and Networker registration). But Appliance never appears in the NMC.
What can I do?
NWS 8.1.1.2 on a Windows 2008 R2 Sp1 server.
Thanks
Greg

Hi,
As the VBA was created, we configure immediately a networker client to save it.
Error.
You have to wait than the registration of the VBA complete before to create the Networker client resources.
Thanks for your help

I believe similar issue was reported recently and it was related to permissions - check it out.

I believe it was permissions for VC on NW - just search around and you will see it. You can add *@VC_machine just for test (or even *@*, but only temporary as that way you grant anyone admin access).

Hi,
I get this information on the daemon.raw from networker server
1120385 94840 26.03.2014 11:52:08 INFO 2808 0 nsrvmwsd SYSTEM critical Unable to register VBA node: NSR VBA Server resource does not exist for NSR client 'hostnamet'.
Does it help?
Thx

This may be helpful for others out there. In my setup I did not have DD Boost enabled on Data Domain. I was also using the root user on the vCenter appliance which may not have had permissions on the Networker server.
I found the following in the networker logs:
Command: nsr_render_log "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\logs\daemon.raw"
94840 24/04/2014 14:22:58 5 3 17 3176 4212 0 networker01 nsrvmwsd
RAP critical Unable to register VBA node: could not find or create vba internal
device, error returned Unable to create default resource for NSR device: Default
VBA device, Directory 'C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\nsr\vba\internal_aftd' is
not allowed. Please check allowed directory list as follows: \\DataDomain1\backup
I finally got the VBA to register (after 3 attempts) with the Networker server by adding the Directory above to the AFTD allowed directories in the storage node properties.
