EMC Networker 9.1 xProxy - Networker Backup Task frozen in vSphere vCenter

Hello everybody.

In our daily VMware backup job with xPoxy, the backup task in VMware vCenter will stay at 0% on some days. The backup job in the Networker continues as idle. Only if I cancel after x-hours the VMware tasks in the vCenter, the Networker backup job finish as fails. The problem does not occur daily and also not always with the same virtual machines.

Has Someone a similar problem?

Sounds as if NW is waiting on something on VMWare side, but what no idea - you most likely need to inspect some logs on that side to see where it hangs.  Any pattern like which datastore or datastores?  Or is it totally random?

Until now i have found still nothin in the logfiles and there is no pattern like which vms or datastore. it is totally random. currently i have an open EMC Case for another problem with one DataDomain. If this is fixed and nobody here has an idee, i will open a new case for this problem.

Hello,

i had the same issue with a lot of Vmware backups in queued or pending state.

the solution was in the admin guide :

5 vProxy appliances with backup and clone operations will require more than 125 parallel sessions.

Therefore, setting the parallelism for the NetWorker server to 128 or higher (while also setting the server with 32+ GB memory and 8+ CPUs) will suit such an environment.

Check your server parallelism and set it to 128 or more (NMC -> Server -> Server properties)

Hello everybody,

since update the proxy environment to version '2.0.2-36-1' we have the same issue to. In our case it looks like the root cause is some interferrence at network/datastore level. But after recovering the proxy state and restarting the missed vmware client backups the failed sessions keep in state 'Queued'. (update: our parallelism setting at server side is 750)

Is there some update on this issue or some procedure to release these queued sessions?

br, Michael
