How to backup to a LUN or drive as destination using networker
Hi All,
Can someone please suggest whether it is feasible to configure the backup target to be a LUN or a drive on any server?
I know that is not a recommended way but if we can run a backup using networker for any client and mention the destination of backup as LUN or any drive on a server?
If possible please suggest how can we do that. Please help...

I'm not sure I understand your question - can you elaborate with real life example?

Firstly, welcome to the forums, and above all, thank you for being an EMC customer.
Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility. Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and can go unanswered for a long time.
You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right. Then search for and select: "NetWorker Support Forum".

Thanks for your attention to this.
What i exactly want to know, is instead of sending backup to VTL or PTL or tapes... Can we send the backup data to some LUN or drive on some of the server. Using networker the destination as the LUN or drive...
I hope i am able to explain now... Please suggest...
Thanks

You can, but in such case that LUN is owned by host and if something happens to host you most likely loose your LUN too so such approach is not best practice, but of course - nothing stops you from using it.

Hi....
Thanks for your response. I do know it is not a best practice, but i will gradually suggest the use of tapes, but at the moment i just need to set it up for some reason. Can you please suggest how can i do this. Need help in setting it up, instantly to backup to a LUN...
Please suggest how to do this...
Thanks in advance...
Regards,
Swapnil

Define disk device. Go where lun is (is presented as disk on some host, right?), create some folder(s) and used those as disk device (AFTD). You can use wizard for that or define it manually - see official documentation where creation of disk devices is described.

OP is not asking for backup or LUN (that can be done with rawasm for example) but for backup to LUN - that can be done using file system layer on top of it.
