How to remove a host entery from the host list

Platform: Windows 2003 / NW 7.3.3 (510)

I had a virtual node which I no longer needed,. When I try to remove its entry from the host list I get "Lack of Authorization". I can not use NSRADMIN to grant Administrator permission as the host does not exist. Any Idea how this can be achieve?
