How to tell which files are being backed up?
I'm running Networker 7.6 on a Solaris server to a tape jukebox.
My backups are suddenly taking a lot more tape than normal. I think it is because there are some large intermediary files (files that processes make while they're running but go away once the process completes) which don't really need to be backed up. How can I tell which files are currently being backed up?

nsrinfo will list the files that are in the index for a given client. The manpage for nsrinfo shows some examples which will help you find the necessary data. This should give you the data of what was backed up in a given backup.

That helps. Is there a graphical way of seeing this information? Specifically, I'm using the Networker Management Console; is there a way to see what is being backed up while the session is running?

Look under the monitoring tab, and look at the group details. Within a group you may be able to see the result of a given client. This may be what you are after. This assumes you are there while the backup is running. Since that isn't the case, then nsrinfo is your best option, or under the Media Section in NMC, you will see savesets and indexes. This will let you see what is in the client indexes and the media database.
