IPv6 Environments (NW for Unix startup issues)
Remember to add the IPv6 loopback entry in /etc/hosts file
while the entry is 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1 it can be abbreviated as ::1
Failure to do so can result in the inability to start NW services on Unix and Linux environments where IPv6 is enabled.

On upgrading our Solaris 10 NetWorker Server from 7.4.4 to 7.6 we had fairly serious issues with nsrd grinding to a halt for minutes at a time (including taking about 20 minutes to start up first time round).
The solution... to stop the Networker Server from trying to do IPv6 DNS lookups:
/etc/nsswitch.conf
OLD:
ipnodes files dns
NEW:
ipnodes files
That seems to have removed the problem. Thankfully we don't have live services on IPv6, or we'd have to find another work around!

All Linux, UNIX, and AIX platforms require a ::1 entry in the /etc/hosts file for the localhost in order to run the NetWorker software. The entry must be in the following form:
Please review the NetWorker Installation Guide, TCP/IP requirements section, that provides details on this requirement.
