Index saveset not cloned at group based cloning process
Hi community,
I have a short question about group based cloning:
We are using NW 7.6.2 and a 2 tier architecture. -> First we backup to VTL (DataDomain) and then clone the backups to a LTO5 tape library using the group based cloning with several Networker groups and different pools.
Now I noticed, that the index saveset is correctly backed up to the first tier (VTL-tape) but the group based cloning process does not clone those to the physical tapes. Is that by design or must it somehow be related to a faulty configuration?
(Note: I would be able to manually clone those savesets to the according clone-pool, so it does not seem to be a filtering issue or similar)
We did not configure an explicit Index-pool, because we'd prefer to have the index on the same tape as the data savesets themselves. (Scanner on a dedicated 1.5 TB LTO tape would cause us grey hairs in case of a DR scenario.)

Hi,
Indexes are backed up to the server and are not cloned, but some entries on the CFI (Client File Index) are created for that.
Anyway you can tune up the pools/groups to backup indexes separately, so that is your call, but again, for any backup and clone operation client file index will get updated anyway.

Hi,
Please check the Filter save sets by level and Filter save sets by name option on the clone job properties.
Filter save sets by level - A list of levels used to filter the save sets to be cloned. If any values are specified, only save sets created at those levels will be cloned. Equal to the '-l' option for nsrclone.
Filter save sets by name - A list of save set names used to filter the save sets to be cloned. If any values are specified, only save sets matching those names will be selected. Equal to the '-N' option for nsrclone.
If any value set on the Filter save sets by level or Filter save sets by name, it may filter Index saveset and ingnore while cloning.
Please check and confirm.

The indexes will be backed up against the server's hostname rather than the client's hostname, Ensure your selection critieria includes the backup server if you have restricted at client level.
