Installation of Networker 8.0.x.x, NMM gives error message at the completion
Hi All,
While installing 8.0.x.x I have encountered error "Setup encountered an error.......the package has not been installed.........no changes have been made on the system..." but as observed changes were done, tmp folder was created in nsr folder, nsrexecd service was found running.
In Windows event log event ids. 1033, was found. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc735566(v=ws.10).aspx says 1033 is a normal condition, no further step is required.
Further on installing NMM over it, i again get "setup encountered an error..........no changes have been made to the system........". Contrary to it I find nsrpsd running. I went ahead and ran backups, they worked fine.
I encountered this set up while running installation packages on different client nodes, different builds. I get error message which also says no change has been made to system but contrary installations had taken place.
I have used installation using GUI in all the cases..
Has anyone else encountered the same scenario?, What could have caused this?, Is it known to occur?

Hi,
Is this a brand new NW/NMM installation?
What OS are we talking about?
What exact version and build of NW and NMM are you referring to?
Thank you,
Carlos

NMM 2.4 cannot be installed on Windows Server 2003. Are you running Windows Server 2008 or above?

Carlos/Tim,
No, this is not brand new installation. Networker 8.0.1.1 was installed nearly an year ago. I faced the error while uninstalling and installing again. The versions I tried were 8.0.1.1 and 8.0.2.6, both on different machines at different instances.
NMM versions used were - 2.4.1.92 and 2.4.1.122.
OS - 2008R2 (all machines)
It is not that installation is not working, nsrexecd, nsrpsd and other daemons come up after the installation, but I keep getting "setup encountered an error...........no changes have been made to the system"; on referring event viewer I find event id. 1033, which is an ignorable event but the problem is why does networker install packages give "setup encountered an error" at the end, though no error was encountered and also the changes were not reverted as it happens while encountering an error.
