Looks like you do not use RMAN for hot backup or at least not NMDA, but rather custom script via savepnpc? In such case, author of custom script should provide log mechanism and do the checks (that "::" seems to indicate log perl module). From what you pasted, it is not possible to say where error came from since messages were suppressed for savegrp log reporting.

I would suggest you to manually trigger the pre command and check for the output.
also, was this working before or is this a new configuration ?

This more looks like normal file system backup than a RMAN backup.
As suggested in above posts, try a manual backup of these files after stopping Oracle DB. That might provide some details of the issue.
Also confirm if the other file system backup is working fine. Look at deamon.raw on client too.
