Mixing instances in save set list is not supported

We have NW server with 8.1.1

NMM 3.0SP1

Using SQL plugin trying to take a client side backup and we got these errors

43708:(pid 6944):Start time: Wed Jan 29 08:27:58 2014

43621:(pid 6944):Computer Name: XXXX     User Name: XXXX

102228:(pid 6944):Detected application flag NSR_SKIP_NON_BACKUPABLE_STATE_DB set to TRUE in NW resources for client xxxx.com.

29384:(pid 6944): Mixing instances in save set list is not supported.

43709:(pid 6944):Stop time: Wed Jan 29 08:28:01 2014

This SQL server does not have multiple instances its single instance server.

Can someone help me figure whats this error meant?

Hi Deepu,

Could it be because you have selected more than one DB to be backed up?

Please note that SQL plug-in only allows to backup all DB's or one at a time.

Thank you,

Carlos

Hello,

Can you please look on error logs on client and post here ?

I have not seen this error before, it would be better if we can get detailed error message.

Thanks a lot for your input CarlosRojas we open EMC SR and try to get some documentation on that but we are not able to get any but we tested in our environment and it does looks like what you told me is absolutly right.

Hi Deepu,

Documentation is available. If you download the NMM 3.0SP1 documentation portfolio, and open the EMC® NetWorker® Module for Microsoft for SQL VDI, in page 44 you will find the following:

In the General view, provide the required details:

1. SQL Server Instance—Select the SQL Server instance that you want to back up from the menu list. The SQL Server instance selected in the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio GUI is displayed by default.

You can select the option to select all the databases in that instance for backup or select the particular database that you want to back up in that instance.

2. Databases—Select the particular database that you want to back up from the selected SQL Server instance.

3. Recovery model—This is a read-only field.

4. Backup type—Select the backup type from the menu list:

• Full

• Transaction Log

• Differential

5. NetWorker server—The NetWorker server that was selected during the NMM installation appears in the NetWorker field. You can select a different NetWorker server from the list that is available. Use Update to update the list of available NetWorker servers.

Thank you,

Carlos
