Networker 7.3.2 unable to label a new tape
When i try to label a new tape this operation fails, relabeling an old already labeled tape is no problem however.
The check_tapealert: check_cdi_infop and cdi_open failed error also occurs when an already mounted tape has to be used. After each clone or stage session i first have to manually unmount the the tape in order to be able to use the tape again.
This is what i get labeling a new tape:

If that is the question then answer is I don't know - you said 7.3.2 initially. If you wanted to say you already have jumbo then check your device with system tools (use sji* commands and mt). Also check system logs for any error corresponding to errors above.

Back sji* story. SJI is interface used for communication with library and several commands there give you very nice way of manipulating library without any knowledge of NetWorker making them ideal for tests. Mostly used are those giving you option to move and check library inventory. Those are:
sjimm - used to move media
sjirdtag - used to check inventory of library
You will need to know your control port of library to use those commands. You will see that one via inquire command or by checking control port of your library via jukebox properties in NMC. It is in b.t.l format (sometimes shown as t.b.l@scsidev) where b is bus, t is taget and l is lun.
With sjirdtag b.t.l you will get inventory of your library. Under assumption that /dev/nst0 is your first drive (shown by sjirdtag as 001) you can load tape from first slot with sjimm b.t.l slot 001 drive 001. Unload it with sjimm b.t.l drive 001 slot 001. With mt command you can rewind tapes once they are loaded and position on any file number and record number of tape. Mostly used mt command is to check status of tape drive - eg. mt -f /dev/nst0 status. Unless you are familiar with these things you may wish to have support do it for you or give you more details instructions how to use it.

I'm not familiar with sji* commands and mt could you please elaborate this? I have looked at the man page for mt and see eight sji* commands but don't know where to start.
