Networker backing up unchanged files with archive bit set on Linux client
In this discussion, the NSR_AVOID_ARCHIVE variable is discussed to prevent Networker from honouring the archive bit.
We observed, that Networker appears to backup unchanged files with the archive bit set on a Linux client (actually a Samba server), doing incremental backups.
The client OS type is clearly configured / recognized as Linux. Why should Networker bother about the archive bits on a Linux platform at all?
Server version is 8.2 on Linux, client version is still 7.6, also Linux OS.
Until today, we did not set the NSR_AVOID_ARCHIVE variable.
Thanks and regards, Thomas

The solution to this issue was upgrading the client to 8.2.
There must have been an issue in the Legato Networker version 7.6 on Linux: consistently, unchanged files went into the backup. We had this issue, event with Networker 7.6 on client and server.
Until now, I have not been able to locate the reason why so many unchanged files have been saved: I cannot find a consistent pattern. The archive bit appears to have set me on the wrong track.
