Not enough storage is available to process this command

Hi,

I try to backup a Windows 2008 - 64 bit server having Legato  7.4.4 64 bit installed. The Legato server V 7.4.4 runs on a Win2003 - 32 bit server.

I get the following error:

43705: (pid 6956): Save Operations value is ignored on this OS pltform

ERROR: VSS failed to get comp=BCD FileGroup list, writer=ASR Writer, error=0x80070008: Not enough storage is available to process this command in directives

7154: (pid 6956): Unable to set up VSS filesystem directives. Failed to backup D:\

What did i do already trying to overcome this problem:

1. disable VSS by VSS:*=OFF  (-> did not work)

2. create a VSS snapshot by vssadmin create snapshot   (-> did not work)

3. create and increase the IRPStackSize to 0xC in the registry   (-> did not work)

Does anyone has an idea what i could do more ?

Rgds,

Johan

Carlos,

1. Yes the Client is Win2008 - R2

2.  Vssadmin list volumes command  gives me 3 lines:

Volume path \\?\Volume{c7 df50 ....)

Volme path: D:\

Volume path C:\

3. I have a look to the article you mentionned

Hello Johan,

Is the client Windows 2008 R2?

Please note that Networker 7.4.x is no longer supported since September 2010, so as a first approach I would recommend to upgrade to 7.5.4 or later version of Networker Server and client.

To me, the error message looks like VSS is not able to get the information of some volume. To verify this please run the following command:

vssadmin list volumes

Also please refer to the following solution:

By default Windows 2008 R2 creates a System reserved partition with no letter assigned, and is that is the case you should manually assign a letter to that partition in order to facilitate VSS to get the volume information.

Please let us know if that helps.

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hello Johan,

I wanted to let you know that the problem should be fixed by assigning a letter to the reserved partition however Windows 2008 R2 is only supported with Networker 7.5.2 or later, so in that case you will need to upgrade.

Let me know if that helps.

Thank you.

Carlos.

Hi Carlos,

I installed V 7.5.4 and it did the thing. Many thanks.

I thought that it was not allowed to run a more recent version of Legato on the client than on the Legato server.

Enjoy !

Rgds,

Johan
