Nw 8.2 not showing full tape barcode

I Am running nw 8.2 the latest build on rhel6.  The library says i have 6 tapes loaded starting with 70000lL6.  But on NMC the tape barcode is shown as just 70000 ;  without the L6

any idea what may be wrong here?

Actually I have no idea what is going wrong here. On the other hand my concern would primarily not be the 'media type extension' like 'L6' but obviously that NW also shows incomplete numbers by loosing the last one (70000l) - assuming your numbers are correct. I would try to connect from another host (Windows) using another browser and verify if the issue persists.

I think the issue is minor (at least you have a workaround) as long as

  - the command line shows the proper values and

  - you only have 1 media type.

However, if there is really a number missing in the GUI you could easily select the wrong tape from the GUI. So please get in touch with EMC support that this will be fixed soon.

Visibility of media type which is usually last two or 3 characters on barcode depends on library (physical) settings.  You can either mask it or show it.  If you already labeled volumes and used them, I would suggest to leave it as it is.

ex: sjirdtag 3.1.0

sjirdtag 7.0.1

Elem[047]: tag_val=0 pres_val=1 med_pres=0 med_side=0

Elem[048]: tag_val=1 pres_val=1 med_pres=1 med_side=0

VolumeTag=<700004 >
Elem[049]: tag_val=1 pres_val=1 med_pres=1 med_side=0
VolumeTag=<700003 >
Elem[050]: tag_val=1 pres_val=1 med_pres=1 med_side=0
VolumeTag=<700002 >
Elem[051]: tag_val=1 pres_val=1 med_pres=1 med_side=0
VolumeTag=<700001 >
Elem[052]: tag_val=1 pres_val=1 med_pres=1 med_side=0
VolumeTag=<700000 >

It does not see the L6 extn. But if I look at the tape library console, the tapes are shown with L6 extn,

As mentioned by Hrvoje, this might be something to do with the physical library configuration.

sjirdtag is a scsi command it fetches data directly from device.

I would suggest you to either look at the library console and figure out if there is any configuration related to barcode is modified or else contact library vendor for help.

Thanks for the info.

It was a setting on the Qauntum library.

Changed barcode settings to Extended from Standard
