Regional NetWorker User Groups

We're aware of a few regional NetWorker User Group gatherings and want to know if any of you are participating in or know about user groups focused on NetWorker.  If so, please let us know what and where they are.  Ones I'm aware of:

Also - please use this space to register your interest in forming a user group session for your area.  If we get enough critical mass, we can explore organizing sessions for 2011.

Thanks, Eric

I would love to part of a Regional NetWorker User Group.  I've actually brought this up to my local account executive but haven't heard anything about it in months.  I don't know of any in Wisconsin but if anyone does, please let me know.

We may need to look more broadly in regions for "EMC" users groups.  For instance, I found this one for the Gulf Coast Region:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=69250400816&v=wall.  Their description says, "Next Generation Data Protection for the US Gulf Coast."  That sounds like NetWorker to me!!

If there are enough NetWorker users joining up, perhaps these can become good forums for backup discussions.

I'll keep looking!

I just got back from the Mid-Atlantic NW users group and it was a great event. Aside from us standing up and presenting details on 7.6 and the roadmap, there were some great presentations from customers on real-world implementations and troubleshooting. Everyone present seemed to get alot out of it.

We on the NetWorker team would certainly support any other regional groups that decide to start up similar events. I've always wanted to visit Wisconsin, although maybe that one could be in the Spring?

I haven't been able to find any more NetWorker specific user groups - but I did find a couple of more EMC regionals:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/EMC-Users-Group-Tennessee/104208803457  Tennessee (mentions Data Domain… so backup is on the docket)

http://wmi-emcusers.org/  West Michigan EMC Users Group

And as far as Wisconsin.... I did find this: http://www.wivmug.org/tag/emc/  VMware Wisconsin – getting warmer…

Maybe we can set up a sub-community about local user groups so those who want a place to advertise and organize can have a place to do it.  As Paul says - we're happy to support and be a catalyst to user groups.

Eric,

The last VMWare User Group I attended was this past summer and they had FalconStor there giving a presentation.  According to them "it just works".

We've got quite a few customers using FalconStor on the backend of NetWorker.  So no worries there.  (Or was this FalconStor selling an alternative to backup like their CDP?).  Let's get Paul Meighan signed up for the next one since he volunteered to go to Wisconsin!    Actually, I lived in Chicago for a while and used to drive up to Wisconsin quite a bit - mostly Millwaukee - but I drove all the way up to Greenbay one time to meet with Schneider National.  Ah... Good times.

Heh. I'm from Seattle so I can deal with 40's and raining. But stonger than my hatred of snow and ice is my love of good cheese, so I think I could make it through.

I am in Northern Nevada, and would love to participate in a Regional Networker User Group.  Any takers, Northern Nevada/Northeastern California?

Per Allan's recent post(s) we're gearing up for EMC World which will be our chance to gather users - not an intimate User Group meeting by any means - but a good chance for us to gather, socialize and communicate.  Keep an eye here on the community for more details.  Also - if you haven't already, sign up for the newsletter in which we will also outline NetWorker-focused activities at EMC World (and beyond).  Tell a friend!

Australia has "the Circle" which isn't NetWorker specific, but certainly covers Backup.

I've been to one of those mid-atlantic user group meetings, post-Katrina, and it was great.  I even did a presentation on our Katrina recovery.   However, with travel budgets being cut, I doubt that I will ever make one again.   I will check on the gulf coat region one when I get home (facebook is blocked at work). .

I know several Louisiana educational institutions use Networker, and I've talked to a few others in the region.

If anyone in the Gulf coast - La, MS, AL, FL are looking to start/join one, let me know - I'm in New Orleans.  I know people hate to travel to New Orleans, but if people would like to get together, I'm sure we could figure it out!

Though not specifically a NetWorker user group  -  if you've implemented Avamar into your NetWorker environment and are in the New York / New Jersey area, you should check out this Avamar User Group meeting.  This is happening in a Tavern - a plus - on July 28.  Click here for more details:  http://bit.ly/cf3nA1  (An Avamar Facebook page).
