Restore of non-English (Japanese in this case) names files/folders

Hello Everyone,

We have an issue where in we have some data on the NetApp filer with files/folder named in Japanese characters. The backups is done via NDMP protocol, all well with backups. But while browsing the backup for restore, these files/folders come up with random characters. The file type and file name are in this case not know, but they do restore OK.

Is there any way to get the files display the original name in Japanese while browsing in NetWorker and get them restored with the original file names ?

Regards,

Symantec has similar issue - see http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH228451. Based on that, I would suggest to check what lang you use for volume first and make sure server and destination are on the same page (most likely UTF-8 which if I remember correctly used to be set as NDMP env variable for backup).
