Upgrade Networker 19.4.0.3 NMC to 19.5.0.1+

Hello,

I am planning to upgrade the networker from 19.4.0.3 to 19.5.0.1+. Currently the Networker NMC 19.4.0.3 browsable recover wizard does not list index contents for file server backups, so we understand this bug has been fixed in 19.5.0.1+. This is the first time that I am attempting this upgrade, Is there a documentations or links which enlists all the step-wise procedure to perform this upgrade ?

Appreciate if someone point to me any resources to refer and learn this upgrade procedure.

Your complaint is hard to believe ... although not impossible.

Basically, it is a de-installation + re-installation to the same path.

  -  On Linux, you must de-install in reverse installation sequence.

  -  On Windows, you can 'directly' upgrade. However, internally, NW will of course follow the same rule.

Do not forget to note your NSR Auth and the administrator's passwords as you will need them for the re-install.

The Installation Guide has more details. If you do this for the first time, may I suggest that you run a test on another (virtual) machine. Depending on your experience, the install and the upgrade test should not take longer than 30..60 mins.

Inside of the "Networker Documentation Portfolio" (which you can find on the DellEMC website), there is a document that details all the steps you need to take - "Updating to Networker 19.5 from a Previous Release".

This document will give you detailed step-by-step instructions, and covers you whether your servers are Linux or Windows.  Includes pre-upgrade steps, the upgrade process, and post-upgrade steps.

Hi @perumj1 ,

You could refer to this to get a better idea on how to do an upgrade of NetWorker server - https://youtu.be/e4zWRcjhjRk

also on https://solveonline.emc.com/solve/home/52, the Solve Online ( https://solveonline.emc.com/solve/home) you can create a document to perform upgrades (or disaster recoveries for that matter, might not be a bad thing to know about the procedure to perform), but that is more focused on upgrading from one major version to another really, not the update from 19.4 to 19.5. For that the "upgrading from previous release" should do.

If nothing is changed, nowadays it might not even prompt for the Authc password even, whereas in the past you'd have to provide that password each time while updating (even when not changing the configuration, like ports to listen on for example).
