VMware Protection and necessary licenses

Hi all,

let's say that we need to calculate the number of required licenses for the following setup:

5 ESX servers

= 2 with 4 6-core sockets

= 3 with 4 12-core sockets

I am told that the number of sockets needs to be used for the license calculation.

So for me this is 20 sockets in total and 5 ESX servers with 4 sockets.

Is it correct to use 5 (number of ESX servers) x Tier-1 (1-5 cpu's)?
Or is it necessary to use 5 x Tier-3 (for the total of 20 cpu's)?

This part is very unclear to me.
