Very very slow restore speed 5-MBPS Very urgent!!!!

Our mail server is crashed. Now we are restoring the backup to another server.

We are having the lotus data backed-up on the LTO 3 tapes.
We have shown that drive to Destination Server.

We have ran the command recover to recover the entire folder to redirected location.

It is Lotus database server, having average file size 500 MB.

But we are taking file level backup only.

Kindly suggest. Its very urgent!!!!

This is most probably network issue with NIC settings mode. That's what usually is. Another thing which might have influence is level of multiplexing original backup had.

The data is 970 GB. and according to our estimation it may take more than 48 hrs.

Which NIC Settings I have to check on the Network?

It is having Team with Smart Load Balancing.

Thanks for reply.

But main thing is that the Data is not moving through N/W card, as we have shown the Drive to Direct to Destination server and through command line we are restoring the data, as a storage node.

Can I know which settings I have to check on n/w card?

Your ideal situation would be to have a dedicated storage node on the Notes box so that you can recover data directly from the tape without going across the network - something you should think about for the future - you will be surprised how easy chequebooks open following a disaster!
Your most likely problem is network settings so I would suggest checking that first. How much data are you expecting to recover?

Chech the mode... like 100 full duplex and make sure those are set on switch port too. Also, if you use gigabit card make sure offloading is disabled - it does causes performance issues.

Ah, you're right. In that case it can be only multiplexing. There is another thing related to immediate mode of reading data, but I doubt that would be the case here (and besides to change it you would need to restart services and I doubt you have time for experiments now).

As I stated earlier, it is not related to the Network as we have attached the drive to the server directly through Zoning.

Can you just confirm that when you have said "we have connected the drive direct to the server" by server you meant the server where you are doing the recovery (ie the client) and not the backup server...
