after upgrade os to hpux 11.31 ,inquire can't see driver device

hi,all

i have many hpux servers installed legato networker client software and windwos server installed legato networker server.

environment:

legato server:windows 2000 ,legato 7.1.1

legato client:hpux legato 7.1.1

tape library:stk l180  have 2 Ultrium 2-SCSI  K710 tape driver  and 1 robot jukebox

a few days ago,i delete old hpux 11.11 os and reinstall 11.31 os ,when i complete networker client & storage node 7.1.3 install on 11.31,the inquire tools can't see tape device but the ioscan can see the driver device.

ioscan result:

# ioscan -fnC tape

is it means the stk l180 is not support by hpux 11 v3 ?so the 11.31 os can't inquire the tape device?

Hello,

I would suggest you to check with OS administrator,  related to reason why the  OS is not able to view the drives from OS level,  Normally networker will not be able to detect the tape drives until the drives not visible from OS level.

Hi,

First of all you seems really skilled, so I guess that the file erased was /tmp/lgto_scsi_devlist not

rm -rf /tmp/lgto_scsi_device* as written in this dialog.

When we have these type of issues, we often forget to accnowledge the hw change, or in our case we reconfigure our VTL, we accknowledge that by running:

/usr/sbin/scsimgr replace_wwid -H 1/0/14/1/0.0x5006048c4a854fdf.0x0

But as your device is "Last Open or Close state      = ACTIVE", that should not be the case, I guess that it would show AUTH_FAILED if you where to have the same issue as we do sometimes.

Best regards

I have bunch of HPUX 11.31 boxes and one thing to know is device management has changed in 11.31.  Check if you have legacy device names enabled with insf -Lv.  If it is not enabled, enable it with insf -L. Legacy mode is required hosts using storage node package. Wihtout things like inquire won't work.  I have filled RFE to support agile addressing long time ago, but I believe even NW8 doesn't have it yet (no big deal until HPUX releases versions where only agile addressing will be supported).
