disaster recovery from pyhsical to vm backup server
Hi all,
In our new setup we are planning to have DR site with following strategy.
kindly, let me know pro and cons
Production site backup server: Windows 2008
DR site : VM machine, windows 2008

Without knowing anything else, just keep in mind that you simply add another factor into the chain
- from Windows + NW
- to VM hypervisor + Windows + NW
So you add another potential troublemaker which you need to take care in case of a disaster.
I personally would not like the idea to recover the VM scenario with another method first before I can start to recover the backup server.

It should work. Actually, Windows DR procedure has this step included in its workflow.

Hi Vish,
It will work as long as the Host Names are same at both sites. You can plan to replicate "Bootstrap" and "Index" to the DR site on a regular basis and mount it to the vm host in the event of Disaster.
