I don't know about Alphastor but within Networker - what are you refering to as default media type?

Normally, if you are using a different device with a different media type, you should reconfigure the device in networker.

when networker working with alphastor, the driver is define as logic driver in networker, and the default media type is DLT, you cannot modify this using jbconfig and GUI. is there any way to modify the default media type of networker's logic driver?

thanks your reply, My alphastor is 3.1 and I can define the driver as LTO2 in the alphastor, but after I using jbconfig config the virtual lib, the driver media type is DLT in networker. Becouse I have backuped something to tape before I using alphastor, so those old tape cannot be used to restore for media type is no match the driver's media type.

You must define SQL sequence and define LTO2 type inside AS db. By default you have only LTO and it is not clear to me why would you use DLT instead of LTO (and there is nothing wrong to that unless you wish to set different block size in NW). You may wish to contact support for SQL command.

Not sure about 3.1, but yes I would expect that it support with 3.1 (in old days you had to add it via SQL to AS db and define it in /nsr/res/smdevmap.txt).

As for this problem you have, it is strange one and I really can't see a reason why would NW see that as DLT at all - I would suggest to talk to support to inspect that. The problem now is that old records in NW media db will show volumes used as dlt so I can only expect that scanner might help. Actually, if dlt media type is part of label record then perhaps even that might not help - I'm not 100% sure here (but I think it is not so I assume it should work). There are other workarounds less comfortable, but let's not rush - hear what support will tell you first.

I can understand that - perhaps then option would be to continue to use DLT type - you must really see that with support. Unlike AS db I have no knowledge of any tool that would allow you to change records of NW media database.
