how to overwrite old EDM media

hello,

does anybody know hot to overwrite old EDM media with Networker? by default NW understands EDM labels and does not touch those tapes.

we moved tape library from old EDM server to new NW server and want to overwrite existing media (LTO-2). but NW ignores all tapes because they have EDM labels. i haven't find a way to force NW to re-label those tapes.

regards,

kipz

I have never tried it on EDM media, but as far as I recall it should be able to be labeled manually. Only auto media management should be prevented when old netWorker or EDM volumes are relabled.

Overwrite EDM labels with tar or dd - that should make NW happy.

... and in 7.4 there is a new NSR variable handling this specific case too.

thanks for your hints.

i also found Networkers own tool 'tapeexercise' which does good job as well.
