is it possible to have different policy in a client registered in more groups?

Hi , i need to have the same client registered in three groups, but i need also to have different policy retention for every groups.

I've seen that if i change browse and retention policy in one group, Networker change retention for the other groups too.

I need to do it because Customer want to use backup with GFS modality (son father granfather) and for every type of backup different retention:

son - from monday to thursday only incr    retention 7 days

father - every friday only full retention 4 weeks

grandfather - last friday of the month  retention  1 year

Is it possible to do it ?

                  many thanks

Right-click on one of your client instances and select 'copy'.  Then for the copied instance, you change the name to the same name as the original client instance, change the group to the group you want (not the same group as the original instance) and change the browse and retention to whatever you need.

Do you have three client definitions each one linked to a different group or one client definition linked to three groups? You need the first one configured. Multiple client definitions with same saveset to a different group are allowed and then browse/retention can be different.

Hi,

Your configuration is possible if you have different client resources created for the same client and place them in the different groups.

Each single client resource will have its own settings regarding browse and retention policy even having the same save set assigned to.
