nmm 8.2 uninstall crashes
We're trying to uninstall nmm 8.2 in order to upgrade to 8.2.1 an Exchange server, on an updated Windows 2012 .
First we get :
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installe pagage. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personel or package vendor.
Then I changed c:\windows\installer\ file with a "healthy" system one and now we get :
nw_eldos_unistall: cocreate instance failed
We've also tried to Repair installation.
Uninstall from Windows :Add Remove programs
Uninstall form install package .
They all fail.
nw_createregistryhypervv ... service can't be registered.
Server has been restarted several times.
this is the only info I get with config checker.
NWFS_DRIVER_STATUS
The NWFS Driver [EldoS CallbackFS driver v4] (cbfs4) driver service does not exist or installed. Please install the driver or product that installs this driver.
IS_DLL_REGISTERED
The dll[libnmexchmgmt.dll] is not registered.
Register the dll by using RegAsm.exe.
EXCHANGE_NMM_SERVICES
Unable to get the status of the service "Replication Manager Exchange Interface" Make sure that the service is "Started" and set to "Manual" mode. Or re-install NMM.

Not easy, deleted %temp and used ms fixit .
- Method 1:
Check if the Installer
Service is running. To do so, follow these steps.
Click Start, Click Run and type “Services.msc” (without quotes) and press
Enter.
Double-click Windows Installer.
Set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual.
Click Start to start the service. Note down the error message if any. Click OK.
- Method 2
Reregister the Windows
Installer. Follow these steps for the same.
Quit all Windows programs.
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and click Run. Type “msiexec
/unregister” (without quotes) in the Open box, and then click OK.
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and click Run. Type “msiexec /regserver”
(without quotes) in the Open box, and then click OK. Restart your computer.
- Method 3 ,
We can ask Microsoft if
we can use the “Program install and uninstall” from the below link , to fix any
registry keys that could be corrupted:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
- Method 4 :
If you have an anti-virus
running , you need to stop it first temporarily , then run the installer ,
uninstall the program then we can revert back the antivirus
- Method 5
If a previous version of
the package is still cached on the system, remove it: 1.Run the uninstallation
of the package on the system if it is still present.
uninstall keys are removed from the system by launching the Registry Editor (by
typing 'regedit' in the Windows " Run dialog) and checking the following
registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_

We have the same issues on one of our Exchange Servers. (Server 2008R2, Exchange2010)
Do you already have a solution?
I just opened a support case by EMC.

Hello,
The Fixit from MS (Method 3) removed the NMM Client from appwiz.cpl
Also the registry IDs look clean.
But now when I try to install the NMM Client I get the following error:
There is also a service in the service.mmc called “RMAgentPS” running.
How can we uninstall or unregister this service to install the NMM Client?
We also tried to install and uninstall the Networker Client several times without success.
We also tried the BATCH-Scripts from the NMM to uninstall the service but it took no effects.
Do you have further instructions?
Kind regards
Marco

there is a ms command to delete the service .
so first stop or kill all services (if on starting on stopping)
sc queryex servicename
taskkill /f /pid [PID]
sc queryex nsrexecd
sc queryex nsrpsd
Else :
net stop nsrpm
net stop nsrpsd
net stop nsrexecd
net stop RMAgentPS
Then by your own risk, delete that service prior reinstallation. I did but first exported regedit and did snapshot.
