Can I use Ling Aggregation on servers with 2 Gb NICs?

Is link aggregation is only used for connecting to another switches or I can use it to double throughput for server by connecting both NICs to the switch and configure LAG?
If I can do a server setup this way then where I can find documentation how is it done, I searched manuals and forum and did not found much information.

If the NICs on the server supports LAG (802.3ad) then yes you can do what you suggested.  You have to configure the NICs on the server (I can't tell you specific on the server side - suggest you look at the documentations for your NICs) to be teamed using 802.3ad teaming mode.  The associated ports on the switch must then also be in a Link aggregation group (LAG).
