Dell M1000e + MI/O Aggregator port mapping
Hi All,
I was planning to setup a new Dell M1000e chassis along with Dell M I/O Aggregator. During the solution time I have few queries about mapping the Physical uplink ports with Blade NDC ports. Can any one please check the config below and clarify my queries ?
My Hardware :
- 1x Dell M1000e
- 2x M I/O Aggregator ( A1 & A2)
- 16x M630 Blade ( Qlogic 57840S Quad-port CNA Card)
DELL M I/O Aggregator :
2-port QSFP+ module (Reserved for Future Use) (Port No1:33-36 & Port No2:37-40)
I want to use these two modules for my blades which required 4 Quad ports and the confusion which I had, how to map these 16 ports ( 8 ports from each module) to the Blade servers and how much band width I will get per blade along with redundancy.
4-port SFP+ 10GbE module ( Flexi Bay O) (Port No:41-48)
4-port 2/4/8Gb FC FlexIO module ( Flexi Bay 1) (Port No:49-56)
FYI - I would like to install ESXi 6.0 on all Blades

I read this document before but still not understood. My bad..
I just need a sample of the mapping, if I used only A1 & A2 I/O bays which has 4 port Network (Flex bay o) & 4 ports FC modules(Flex Bay 1).
How many ports will be in active by default at chassis and mapping from I/O aggregator to Blades.

Thanks for your reply.. If you see my scenario -- I am using A1 & A2 and on each I/O aggregator I'm using the 10GbE module and FC module.. So there are 4 ports NW and 4 Ports from A1 and A2 also.
I understand that A1 & A2 ports will go to LOM in Generic scenario but if I use both (NW & FC) modules in A1 & A2 then how we can differentiate the ports at Switch end and how we know which ports are belong to FC and which are for Network and the mapping..
If you can send me sample mapping diagram which can help me in bit detail.
From the Blade end I am using CNA quad port card not the Mezzanine card.

Thanks for the reply!! I understood that it is not 1 to 1 mapping.
If I want to build the connections from Scratch then

My Specific question is -- 8 uplinks (A1 & A2) for network and 8 uplinks (A1 & A2) for FC and I want to make a redundancy to my blade server, so how will be the mapping. I understand it is not 1 to 1 mapping but logically how I can get 2 ports for Network and 2 ports for FC in this case. Is there is any best approach from dell to configure.
I just need block diagram please.

Do we also have any doc which shows the switch config from GUI mode ?
