Dell n2048 - MMU MTRO PAR generic parity error

Hi,

On a stack of two n2048 we have the following message each second

<187> Jun 24 17:28:53 0.0.0.0-1 DRIVER[bcmDPC]: broad_hpc_drv.c(4428) 4172059 %% Unit: 0

Blk: 3 MMU MTRO PAR generic parity error.

Does someone know what it means?

Is this a new deployment? Or something that has previously been working fine up unit now? Have there been any new devices added to the network? Or changes to any configs?

What kind of devices plug into the switch? You might try looking through the interface counters using the following show command. #show interfaces counters te1/0/1. Look for any interfaces that show FCS errors, collisions, dropped packets, etc.

What firmware level is the switch at?

Hello,

It has been working without any problems for two months. DC engineers have replaced cisco router connected to this stack a mounth ago. There are only Dell servers and one Cisco router.

I did show interface counters and found nothing strange.

Firmware version 6.2.0.5

The latest firmware has a whole slew of improvements and fixes. If you can schedule some time to update the firmware, it may help out.

Besides these generic errors, are any other errors logged? Any performance degradation?

Yes, I know and we are going to update firmware.

We had not noticed any performance degradations or errors.

We are expirenceing the same problem on one switch-stack. Are there any updates on this issue? Did the update help?

We upgraded the N2048 to latest version 6.2.7.2,A10 about a months ago. After couple week of running, we start to spot this same error in every 5-6 minutes.

  Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you for the help!

regards,

Wilson

We have seen a few similar logs normally older Cisco APs but this is a new one FW 6.2.1.6. Waiting for downtime.

Based on some previous cases involving the MMU error. One solution is to power the switch down, leave it unplugged for a few minutes, and then power back on. I know this sounds trivial, but it has proven to work in some situations. Ensuring the firmware is up to date can also help. If the error continues to occur, it may be best to call into local support to further record the error and gather logs.

A simple reload has resolved the log entries for us, but was a slightly different error.
